In 2026, we are launching a new series of DFEWA Artists Residencies in Dresden , offering international artists the opportunity to develop their work, explore new creative paths, and build meaningful professional connections. The DFEWA Residencies are designed to foster interdisciplinary exchange and provide a supportive environment where artistic processes can unfold freely. Each residency offers individualized guidance, professional support, and opportunities for public presentation. The entire program is organized by DFEWA e. V. Dresden, Germany . The curators of these residencies are Dorothea Fleiss and Susanna Fleiss . Several Western and Eastern artists founded the non-profit association “dorothea fleiss & east‑west artists” (DFEWA) for professional artists in January 1998. The purpose of our association is to create a solid foundation for cooperation between artists from Eastern and Western countries. Our aim is to encourage and strengthen cultural and artistic exchange between outstanding artists shaped by different historical and cultural backgrounds. This dialogue between East and West is enriched by the close contact artists from around the world maintain with one another and with our association. Between 2000 and 2025 , more than 1,400 artists from 49 countries have participated in our DFEWA Residencies and in group exhibitions held across both regions — in Germany, China, Romania, Hungary, Serbia, France, Turkey, Austria, Morocco, Italy, Montenegro, India, the USA, and Chile .
