Zeit[punkt] European International Book Art Biennale 2024
PRESS RELEASE
On Sunday, July 21, 2024, at the main entrance of the Károlyi Castle in the municipality of Carei, the tenth edition of the European International Book Art Biennale Object Zeit (punkt) (EIBAB – European International Book Art Biennale) will begin. The opening of the "Object book/artist book" exhibition will take place at 12:30 p.m., and entry will be free.
The exhibition curated by Dorothea Fleiss PhD will be open to the public from July 21 to 26, 2024 and will be hosted in the Exhibition Hall on the ground floor of Károlyi Castle.
The event is organized by the Association of Professional Visual Artists DFEWA e. V. Dresden, Germany, with the support of the Culture Directorate of the Municipality of Carei and the Center for the Promotion of Cultural Tourism "Gróf Károlyi".
Dorothea Fleiss, the initiator and organizer of this event, said: "The book has a long history and tradition, but since the beginning of the 20th century it has been disappearing, physically speaking, becoming virtual. The object book/artist book is a way of creation that allows maximum freedom of expression of the artist through the extended forms and methods, but also through the choice of techniques and various materials – from handmade paper, textile materials, metal, glass or ceramics. Even though some artists create limited editions, these works remain unique.
The object book/artist book addresses, among other things, a fundamental theme, that of the relationship between text/literature and painting/installation.
At EIBAB, we have the opportunity to verbally, visually and tactilely approach various copies of object books/artists' books, accordion or leporello books, journal books, precious small editions, painted books, installation books and repurposed books.
At this 10th edition of EIBAB (European International Book Art Biennale), artists from Albania, Austria, Kosovo,Poland, Ukraine, Germany, Slovenia, the United States, Great Britain, Hungary, Thailand, Belgium, Italy, Turkey, Ireland, the Netherlands and Romania were selected.
